     भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) की सन 1969 में स्थापना के साथ भारतीय अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत हो गई थी। भारतीय अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य देश के सामाजिक, आर्थिक लाभ हेतु अंतरिक्ष विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी का विकास एवं अनुप्रयोग करना तथा राष्ट्र के लिए आत्म-निर्भर मूल्यवान सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराना है।
     Indian space programme was institutionalized in 1969 with the formation of Indian Space Research Organisation [ISRO]. Indian space programme is aimed at promoting the development and application of space science and technology for the socio-economic benefit of the country and also providing valuable service to the Nation in a self reliant manner.

    द्रव नोदन प्रणाली केंद्र इसरो के प्रमोचन यानों एवं अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रमों के क्षेत्र में एक अग्रणी केंद्र है। भू-भंडारणीय/क्रायोजनिक एवं सेमि क्रायोजनिक नोदन तथा इंजनों की सुपुर्दगी, प्रमोचन यानों के लिए चरणों, संबद्ध नियंत्रण प्रणालियों तथा संघटकों एवं अंतरिक्ष यानों के कार्यक्रमों की मुख्य जिम्मेदारियाँ इस केंद्र को सौंपी गई है। इसके यूनिटें वलियमला, तिरुवनंतपुरम और बैंग्लूर, कर्नाटक में स्थित है। मुख्यालय वलियमला भू-भंण्डारणीय, प्रमोचन यानों के लिए क्रायोजनिक एवं सेमि क्रायोजनिक नोदन प्रणालियों तथा अंतरिक्ष यान नोदन प्रणाली की अभिकल्पना, आर्किटेक्चर तथा प्रबंधन यंत्र परियोजना के विकास एवं अनुसंधान की जिम्मेदारी वहन करता है। भू-भण्डारणीय एवं क्रायोजनिक इंजन तथा चरण प्रणालियाँ एवं प्रमोचन यान समाकलन नोदन नियंत्रण प्रणाली पैकजों और मॉड्यूलों के क्रिया कलाप द्रव नोदन प्रणाली केंद्र, वलियमला में किए जाते हैं। द्रव नोदन प्रणाली केंद्र, बैंग्लूर, एकल नोदक थ्रस्टरों एवं संघटकों की अभिकल्पना एवं निर्माण तथा अंतरिक्ष यानों के लिए कक्षा प्रचालन आदि प्रमोचन आधृत सहायता प्रदान करता है ।
     Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) is the lead Centre in the area of Liquid Propulsion for ISRO's Launch Vehicle and Spacecraft programmes. Research and development of Earth Storable / Cryogenic & Semicryogenic propulsion and delivery of Engines, Stages, Associated Control Systems and Components for Launch Vehicle and Spacecraft programmes of ISRO are the main responsibilities of the Centre with its units at Valiamala near Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru in Karnataka. The Headquarters located at Valiamala has the responsibilities of R&D in Earth Storable, Cryogenic and Semicryogenic Propulsion Systems for Launch Vehicles as well as Spacecraft Propulsions System design and architecture. Management of system projects, Earth Storable & Cryogenic Engine and stage systems and Integration of Launch Vehicle Propulsion Control System packages and Modules are alse carried out at LPSC, Valiamala. LPSC at Bengaluru is responsible for design and realization of Mono propellant thrusters and Components, Launch base support orbit operation for Spacecrafts etc.
